Miel Van Kest

From about 1950 to 1965 there was a cafe in the Schrieksebaan in Tremelo. It was called 'At Miel Van Kest'. Now, more than 50 years later, Brasserie Miel Van Kest exists again, and in roughly the same industry. The business was set up according to the principle of re-use, re-build and re-cycle. A seed trade and a pharmacy from Poland were incorporated into the interior. Mirrors, glassware, wall coverings, heating elements... are recycled materials one by one. Nostalgia is all that matters. Dozens and dozens of old photos in appropriate frames adorn the walls of the brasserie. The visitor soon gets a picture of Tremelo anno 1930-1960. Brass bands, majorettes, football players, cyclists, cards, notables who were known by name and by name by everyone at the time, show themselves from their best side.
