Magritte Museum

The Magritte Museum on Konigsplein extends over an area of 2,500 m² and, with more than 230 works and archival items, is the world's most important collection of the Belgian artist René Magritte.

The multidisciplinary display shows his oil paintings on canvas, gouaches, drawings, sculptures and painted objects, but also his advertising posters, music scores, old photographs and films made by Magritte himself. The Museum also has the most important collection of works from his “vache” period.

The top (third) floor sheds light on the artist's constructivist period and his contacts with the group 7 Arts. The second floor covers the period after Magritte's return to Brussels. This includes his work for the advertising sector. The last museum level is called “The Enchanting Domain” and is devoted to Magritte's quest for repetition and to the great works that so aptly illustrate his visual language, more specifically “The Realm of Lights” and “The Domain of Arnheim”.

The Magritte Museum has already won 8 nominations and prizes over the years.
