Sculpture Park
Music lovers can also indulge themselves in Bilzen. From 1965 to 1981 Bilzen was the birthplace of one of the first music festivals.
There are also some activities related to Jazz Bilzen. There is the Demer Walk, an audio app that guides you along the memorable places of Jazz Bilzen, in particular the (separate) campsite, the first backstage, the graffiti tower where street artists left their festival impressions, etc. You can listen to music fragments, interviews with artists and stories from Bilzenaren, visitors and volunteers.
In Park Haffmans, life-size statues of musical heroes recall the musical richness of Jazz Bilzen. Some sculptures, by the former Humo graphic artist Ever Meulen, lack the face... that you can fill in. It's a great opportunity to step into the shoes of the stars yourself.
Belpop is also commemorated by Bilzen thanks to the Belpop Bonanza cycling and walking route, from April 2022. Here you can walk and cycle to the rhythm of Belgian pop history. Belpop specialists Jan Delvaux and Jimmy Dewit guide you through unique music stories. Scan the QR codes on the signs with your smartphone at fascinating places to stop, and this is how our forgotten music history comes to life. Funny and surprising, in word and image.
