Dominican Bookstore
Since the autumn of 2006 you will find the unique Dominicanen bookshop (formerly Selexyz Dominicanen and Polare Maastricht) in the ancient Dominican Church in Maastricht. The church lost its sacred function two hundred years ago and has served for many years as a reptile house, bicycle shed and 'carnival stamp'. Many Maastricht residents have special memories of this, including their 'first kiss' during carnival. This rich history can still be felt in this beautiful location. Bookstore Dominicanen has a wide range of public books, music and books for professionals. But because this place also attracts people who are not so interested in books, it is a must-see location when you are in Maastricht. In the former choir of the Dominican Church you can enjoy a delicious cappuccino or lunch provided by the famous Blanche Dael Coffeelovers (the ultimate roasting house in Maastricht). Dominicanen Bookshop also functions as a cultural venue, with regular lectures, debates and music performances and even an exhibition space. A walk through the Dominican Church is an experience in itself: it is no wonder that it is called the most beautiful bookstore in the world!
The bookstore is closed on Monday 10 February.
