Jan Vleminck Tower

The Jan Vlemincktoren is a remnant of a sixteenth-century moated castle and has been transformed several times and adapted to the latest fashion.

It is located in a historic park in the center of Wijnegem. The U-shaped building was originally part of the courtyard of the castle and served, among other things, as a pigeon tower. The building acquired its current appearance around 1850, when it was converted into a “romantic foil”. This style suited the redevelopment of the surrounding park into an English landscape garden. In 1978 the Jan Vlemincktoren was protected as a monument.

The vzw Kempisch Landschap assists the municipality in restoring the building and possibly giving it a new function.

If you want to visit the tower at Turnhoutsebaan 387, you can already park on the nearby Market Square.
