Graffiti street Ghent
Ghent is an open-minded and hip cultural city, and everyone is welcome there. For example, young street artists in the winding alley Werregarenstraat indulge themselves with “spray can art”. In this iconic alley, located between the Hoogpoort and the Donkerstraat and sometimes referred to as the graffiti street, the love for the city literally drips from the walls.
The typical street was created in 1995 during the Ghent festivities. Back then there were still a modest number of works on the walls, today the street is a cacophony of colors that is constantly changing with the installation of new graffiti.
Ghent has grown into a graffiti-friendly city all the way, with many works by Roa and Blue the warrior, among others. If you fancy even more graffiti hotspots, you can try Ghent's “Sorry, not sorry street art” plan, a walking or cycling route along the city's colorful graffiti art.
