Antwerp Saint Andrew

Sint-Andries was once called “the Parish of Miseries”, but that time is long gone, because in the meantime it has grown into a city district that is constantly in motion.

 

The district is dominated by the late Gothic Saint Andrew's Church. It arose at the beginning of the 16th century thanks to the Augustinian Fathers and was Rubens' first parish church

 

 

In 2021, the ModeMuseum is the face of the district. Over the years, it has also built up an international reputation. From the reopening weekend of September 4 and 5, and through January 2022, the ambitious “Mode 2.021 Antwepen-Mode/Conscious” event, a line-up full of fascinating exhibitions, open-air projects, city walks and activities, with the overarching theme of the global transition and meaningful changes within the fashion world.

 

Lovers of vintage and haute couture will certainly find what they are looking for in the vicinity of Kammenstraat and Nationalestraat, the access road between Antwerp City and the proverbial car park (because that's the "rest" for an Antwerper…).

 

Don't miss the Kloosterstraat, with shops full of treasures of antiques and brocante. This is especially true on Sundays

favorite street to imagine yourself in a bohemian atmosphere.

 

At the end of the Kloosterstraat you can go to the Pedestrian Tunnel, from where you can walk/cycle to Linkeroever. From there you have (for many) the best view of the city…

Zao Wang

A thousand years ago in Japan, fish was kept in vats of fermented rice. Literally, sushi means 'marinated rice'. This is how the classic Japanese sushi was born, a ball of rice topped with a slice of raw fish. At Zaowang sushi means much more. On our menu you will find sashimi, nigiri, sushi, hoso maki, temaki and a wide range of futo maki. You can choose à la carte or go for one of our combos. There are sushi maki boats for 2, 3 and 4 people. You can also pick up sushi and other dishes, both for a quick bite and for a festive occasion.

De Peerdestal

The Peerdestal has been a household name in Antwerp for over 47 years. In the 27 years that chef Mike Vlasman has been at the stove here, the restaurant has evolved considerably. Initially you could only go here for horse steak or chicken on a spit, but in the meantime you can also go here for a six-week matured Basque txogitxu sirloin steak or simment hall.
