Terhills
Who says Terhills, says nature. Terhills is an area in Eisden and Lanklaar, located on the former site of the Eisden coal mine. Walk through Connecterra, the main gateway to the Hoge Kempen National Park, and climb the slag heaps for the best view of all of Maasmechelen. Did you know that the slag heap was really just a pile of garbage? A slag heap is an accumulation of stone waste and that is exactly what it used to be: a place where the miners piled their mining waste. Today, the slag heaps are the most beautiful pieces of nature in Maasmechelen.
