't Eilandje

't Eilandje has not stolen its name: the oldest port area of Antwerp is (indeed) surrounded by water. Today, port activity is concentrated more in the north of the city, but the harbor feeling still predominates here. You can still taste the old atmosphere of the unloading quay with monumental warehouses (such as the Felix warehouse), accentuated by lanterns, hangars and cobblestones.

't Eilandje has also become a “must visit” for tourists in recent years, thanks to the three crowd pullers that the MAS | Museum aan de Stroom, the Red Star Line Museum and the Port House have become.

The MAS in particular, where you will find a collection of the best that Antwerp museums have to offer, has also made it (very) far internationally, and has without doubt become one of the city's landmarks. You can also go (for free) to the roof terrace of the monumental building, from which you probably have the best view of the Scheldt city and the harbour.

Those who want to delve into the historical role of the port and want to relive the romantic side associated with the historic ship crossings to America at that time can't ignore the Red Star Line Museum.
