Museum of Natural Sciences
In the Museum of Natural Sciences you can (re)discover nature. You can also explore human nature (our evolution and biology) in the new Gallery of Man, ranging from Sahelanthropus to Homo sapiens and from embryo to adult.
In the Museum you will find the largest Dino Gallery in Europe, go through the history of life in the Gallery of the Evolution (with more than 1000 specimens), delve into the era of the gigantic marine reptiles in the Room of the Mosasaurs, go on safari through the city in BiodiverCITY and discover 250 Years of Natural Sciences through 14 natural science icons.
There are also rooms devoted to minerals, insects (with a vivarium where you can admire live tarantulas and stick insects) and shells.
The Museum of Natural Sciences also intensively conducts scientific research. One person on that in the museum is a scientist. This mainly concerns biologists, paleontologists and geologists, but also oceanographers, anthropologists, archaeologists, geographers, physicists, bioengineers and mathematicians. They conduct research into the geology of Belgium and the modeling of the North Sea.
