Vlaeykensgang
The secret Vlaeykensgang dates from 1591 and connects the Hoogstraat, the Oude Koornmarkt and the Pelgrimstraat with each other. When you step through the gate at Oude Koornmarkt 16, you imagine yourself in another time. The corridor used to be the domain of shoemakers, who had to sound the alarm bell of the cathedral, and the poorest of the city lived here. Now you will find antique shops and art galleries. The atmosphere is subdued and the corridor is a popular place to listen to the summer carillon concerts.
