Rector De Somerplein
The bustling square in the heart of Leuven was named after the first rector of the Dutch-speaking Catholic University of Leuven, Pieter De Somer. Fast cyclists, walkers and buses whiz past you here. Amid the bustle of the city, you might catch a glimpse of Fonske, Leuven's oldest and most loyal student. Fonske is an image of a reading student who pours a beer into his head. He even gets dressed up on special occasions!
