5-Year Dimpna Days
The Gheelamania event will take place from May 20 to June 5, preceded by the Sint-Dimpna Ommegang on May 15, 2022.
During the 2022 edition, Gheelamania will not take you on a journey through time, but the moving, contemporary story of the influence of Dimpna on Geel and the Gelenaren is presented. Because treating each other with care, accepting each other and forming a beautiful community together, that is the soul of Geel.
On Sunday 15 May, the 5-yearly Sint-Dimpna Ommegang will go out again, a procession of 3 km that goes through the city center streets. The 2022 edition is all about renewal, complementing the traditional procession with brand new floats depicting the legend of Saint Dimpna with the help of modern techniques.
A grand medieval feast on the market square, with performances, animation and reinforcement for the inner man complete the experience.
A total of 1,500 volunteers from all over Geel and the world take part. For the 2022 edition, we are still looking for many volunteers to participate as an actor or extra in Gheelamania and the Ommegang. To register, surf to www.fanvandimpna.be and create an account. Bee
