Namen
The capital of Wallonia is a real attraction for everyone, whether you like shopping for hours or rather enjoy yourself on a cozy terrace. And those cozy terraces, you will find them around the Place du Chanoine Descamps. Hip coffee shops and trendy restaurants at will. If you prefer to do the service yourself, you can of course also lay down a blanket in the most beautiful park in the province: the city park of Namur, around the citadel, where nature and culture become one. No other park is so ideal for a royal picnic. The eye-catcher is still the gigantic golden turtle. 'Searching for Utopia' by Jan Fabre shines here as a watchdog in front of the citadel. Prefer an adventurous excursion? Then make your way to the caves of Han. Take out your sturdiest pair of shoes and discover all the beauty that nature has created here. It is becoming increasingly clear that it is not only possible to do things in the caves these days. Take a seat in the safari car and dive into the deep, dark forest. Who knows, you might even spot a bear during the ride! Because you can't go home with an empty stomach after such an active day, there are fortunately more than enough dishes that you will definitely want to try. So don't forget to order Le Petit Gris. Did you know that this escargot is also the mascot of Namur? Not a fan of escargot? Then look for Le Biétrumé, a type of caramel that does not stick to your teeth. Can't get any better than that, right? Le Biétrumé is made from boiled whipped cream and grilled nuts and is available in two flavours: butter or chocolate. Bet you can't choose?
