Our only coastal province is unique in Flanders for that reason alone. Our coastal area and associated polder landscapes also have a lot of historical baggage. Perhaps not always easily digestible - you can't just swallow the horror of the World Wars - but fortunately some delicious regional products are more than suitable for that. Otherwise, the grandeur of a day in Bruges will take care of that. West Flanders is a province that can touch you in many ways.
