Lokeren
Lokeren is the most important city in the Waasland after Sint-Niklaas and there are reasons for that. A strategic location on the Durme river is one of them. But above all, don't focus blindly on that 'strategic' aspect. Much more important is the eye-catching effect of the Durme.
Right in the Durme Valley, Lokeren is surrounded by beautiful polders and swamp areas, with the Molsbroek nature park as the highlight. Be sure to visit the city center as well.
